As a Play Therapist, Pip is dedicated to finding an integrated approach to working with children that suits the strengths and needs of each individual child and family unit. Pip aims to work systemically, seeing a child as
part of an ecosystem made up of their family, school, neighbourhood and other services involved in the child’s life. Pip aim’s to work collaboratively with all the significant parts of a child’s system. Pip’s particular areas of interest are Humanistic Play Therapy, Child Centred Play Therapy, Filial Therapy and Narrative Therapy. She completed her Master of Child Play Therapy through Deakin University in 2021. Pip is warm, empathetic, and caring, always seeking to find the strengths in any child and family. She is a registered Play Therapist and Certified Practicing Counsellor and strives to uphold respect, honesty, compassion, cultural sensitivity and ethical practice within all that she does in accordance with the Australasian Pacific Play Therapy Association and PACFA.
Pip has over 10 years experience working with children and families in a variety of circumstances including refugees and asylum seekers, victims of trauma, drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence, relationship breakdowns, poverty, financial stress, mental health issues, and more. She has experience working therapeutically with children who have ADHD, Autism, emotional regulation issues, social issues, trauma, sexual assault, and more. She spent several years facilitating group play therapy with young people, harnessing the power of play with cognitive behavioural therapy, narrative therapy and a strength-based approach. She has worked within the child protection system, as both a case manager and a trainer for case workers working within foster care with a view to targeting more child-centred and therapeutic approaches. She is a trained facilitator of The Circle of Security, The Incredible Years, the Basic PH Six Part Story Method and the school-based resilience program ‘S.O.S: Strengths, Opportunities and Supports’. She has completed TraumaPlay™ Foundational Training.
Pip is a wife, a mother of two kiddos, a keen sourdough baker, gardener, sewer and runner. When she has a quiet moment, Pip loves to create things and take on new projects. Together, she and her family love to go to the beach, explore some of Adelaide’s playgrounds and have brekky at local cafes.
